With the rate of competitiveness between affiliate markers over the last few years, there are thousands of marketers out there. They have hopped on the bandwagon with hopes of making a quick buck. We are fortunate, since very few marketers know what they’re supposed to do, nor are willing to do it. You’ll quickly find yourself in the top 1% of affiliate markers actually making money if you follow these 7 tips.
Tip #1 - Test Multiple Affiliates
To maximize your payout, it’s important to test multiple affiliates when it’s time to set up an affiliate campaign. Most people only test one affiliate, and that is part and parcel of the problem.
Try selling physical products as well as informational products. Try CPA offers as well as pay per sale offers. In short, test to see what gives you the highest return.
Tip #2 - Building Your List
It’s been said again and again. The money is in the list.
By not putting effort into build a profitable list, 99% of potential clientele will leave your page without buying a thing. If you can get 30% of these visitors to sign up for your email list there is always time to continue marketing until they do buy.
And if they don’t buy, there is always the option of selling products from all kinds of other affiliates.
Tip #3 - Trying Affiliate Mini Sites
Trying to build the next super-sized site to market an overload of affiliate products may not be the best choice for you. This is where affiliate mini sites work quite well.
A mini site is a small website used to increase conversions between your traffic and your offer. For example, if you bought a PPC ad and tried to funnel it straight to your affiliate link, chances are it won’t convert.
However, if you forwarded the traffic over to just a one page website then over to the merchant’s page, often times it will convert.
Tip #4 - Expand Your Traffic Sources
As the web continues to develop, there will be more traffic sources surfacing. For example, some affiliate marketers are still using only the PPC game. There are other though, those who are making millions by using Facebook or other social networking sites.
It’s time to get creative, learning more and trying new techniques to try in order to create new traffic sources.
Tip #5 - Don’t Just Look at Payouts
Payout actually isn’t the most important number. Conversions are important too, but it’s not the most important number either.
The most important number you should be looking for is your personal Earnings Per Click, or EPC. This means if you make $20 each time you send 100 visitors over, your EPC is $0.20.
The more your affiliates are working, the higher your EPC is. Your EPC is the ideal way of telling how much you’re making takes into account both your conversion rate and your payouts.
Tip #6 - Continuity or High End Products
If you have two choices, one making $20 per item you sell, or $2000 a product, which one would you rather put effort into?
Which would you rather do? Working your affiliate information to get paid once, or working it once for multiple payouts?
By look for those high ticket items with continuity to promote, you will find it pays off.
Tip #7 - Keep Testing
Never get complacent. The top marketers make all their money by continually testing and testing their products and offers.
Keep testing your ads, your landing pages, your offers, etc.
If you follow these seven tips, you’ll quickly find yourself among the top 1% of all affiliate marketers who make money. Most marketers just don’t put in the work to really make money in this business. If you do the work, you’ll take home the paycheck.
