Strange Carpal Tunnel Exercises Treat Most Complained About Symptoms

by Tom Nicholson

When you deal with carpal tunnel and all the pain, all you think about is making sure the area is healed and pain free. However, it’s really not that simple and you will need to do a variety of exercises to help, even though they may not seem to be exercises that would really help out your carpal tunnel. Here we are going to show you some carpal tunnel exercises that focus on other body parts to help out your pain.

Exercise 1 - The Torso Twist

Find a chair without any arms and sit down to either the right or left of it. Make sure you’re feet are planted firmly on the ground. Turn your torso until you can grab both sides of the back of the chair. If you are on the left side then once you have hold of the chair, turn your head to the left. The more twisting the better, but don’t over do it.

Once you do the one side, go on and do the other side. Holding that twisting position is the important part of the exercise. Usually it’s best to start out by holding it for 5 seconds. As this gets easier for you, then you can go from five seconds on up to a longer period of time to hold it. You can twist further as well if possible as the twisting part becomes easier for you.

Neck Release

Once you do the torso twist, now sit in the chair the normal way. You’ll take the left hand, reach to the back and hold onto the left side of the chair you’re in. Then for the best effects, take the neck, move it down slowly, and get your chin on the chest or as close as you can. Take the right hand, reach to the left side of the head, and then pull the neck to the side for a nice stretch.

For those who don’t always have great posture when working at a desk, this is one of the best carpal tunnel exercises. Although it doesn’t focus on the arms and wrists, you will feel the effects on the neck and shoulders, helping out. When you loosen these areas up you’ll be able to sit properly at the desk, get the arms up better, and it will make it easier for you to use your hands for your job.

Exercise #3 - The Shrug

Another great exercise that is easy is the shrug, although it may not seem like an exercise for carpal tunnel. You can sit in the chair or even stand up. Take the shoulders and bring them up towards your ears as high as you possibly can. When you get this done, then allow the shoulders to drop and do the whole process again. Once you reach the highest point you can get, try holding the shoulders there for a couple of seconds and then release it.

When it’s all said and done, all of these may not feel like carpal tunnel exercises, but they all help to prevent the syndrome. Doing them during your breaks, in between working points, or a couple of minutes each hour will leave you feeling refreshed. Once you get in the habit of doing them everyday, you will be preventing any further problems with carpal tunnel.

A Carbon Footprint Calculator Is A Vital Resource

by Daniel Stouffer

As most companies need to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, so they turn to a carbon footprint calculator. Organizations can now much more easily recognize their greenhouse gas emissions, put in place measures to reduce and then assess benchmarks to see how they are progressing.

Within the past several years, there have been many efforts to reduce carbon emissions. Among them are the U.S. Clean Air Act and The Climate Registry, which is a nonprofit agency that sets uniform standards for calculating, verifying and reporting greenhouse gas emissions. Membership in The Climate Registry is voluntary, however most North American states, provinces, territories and native sovereign nations are participating.

The carbon footprint calculator is a valuable tool in which facilities can enter data about their daily operations in areas that contribute greatly to greenhouse gas emissions. Energy use, waste generation, purchased materials and transportation are among the main areas that play a major role in the emitting of harmful gases into the environment.

It is becoming increasingly critical for businesses to measure their carbon footprint. The current and future health of the planet depends on it. New research shows that certain gases are depleting the ozone layer and contributing to global warming. Because these gases remain in the atmosphere for hundreds of years, steps must be taken now to slow their damage. These measures include reducing carbon emissions.

By using a carbon footprint calculator, businesses will be able to measure how much of the environmentally harmful gases they use. These substances include carbon dioxide, hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and perfluorocarbons (PFCs). According to scientists, these gases contribute to the earths warming, which could lead to extreme heat waves, rising sea levels and severe harm to humans, animals, plant life and marine life, if no action is taken to stop the damaging effects.

Under EPA requirements, a business can now use a carbon footprint calculator to identify the extent of their gas emissions, creating a management plan, establish goals and report their findings. Companies that have multiple buildings or locations will find the calculator to be of particular benefit.

Data is entered into a carbon footprint calculator representing Emissions Factors and Global Warming Potential, for each source. Sources are defined as being either direct or indirect, with direct emissions being those classified from equipment or other sources owned or operated by a company and indirect emissions being used by a company during its daily operations, but supplied by another source. The former will cover commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning or heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, whilst the latter may involve the use of electricity or heat. Total emissions are factored by multiplying EF and GWP at each source.

With the complexity of the data that needs to be input to a carbon footprint calculator, most companies with AC/HVAC systems in offices, stores, hospitals, warehouses, etc., are turning to refrigerant management programs that are computerized and include a carbon calculator to handle the tedious monitoring, tracking and reporting tasks with ease.

Different Hair Brushes For Different Hair Types

by Henry Tayer

It is not always the skill of the stylist that makes your hair look good. It is also the maintenance. People continue to spend millions on their hair despite a world recession.

But as we mentioned, once you leave the salon, you must maintain that hairstyle if it is to look good for a foreseeable time in the future. The best way to maintain your hair in the best way and to keep it exactly the way the stylist made it is to have the right hair brush. This is on top of whatever chemicals you may have namely gels, oils and lotions.

There are different types of hair brushes and these are as varied as there are types of hair. So does one know which hair brush to use for their particular hairstyle? Most people simply guess based on the way the brush feels and goes through their hair. But let us determine the types of brushes that are ideal for your hair.

As we all know there are many different types and textures of hair. There are people with curly hair, course hair, straight long hair, kinky hair and many more in between. There are different types of combs for the different types of hair and having the right brush is key especially in maintaining your hair quality.

People with curly hair require round hair brushes. These are the brushes that hair stylists utilize whenever a customer with curly hair frequents their salon. The smaller the curls, the smaller the round brush but nevertheless, it is a round brush.

Then there are people with medium long hair. In this instance, the paddle brush becomes ideal especially for straightening. This brush does an excellent job of smoothing the hair as it grows longer.

Not all long hair is the same however and this poses a problem in knowing exactly which brush to use for the specific medium to long hair that is at hand. Those that have long and layered hair need a special paddle brush to disentangle the hair and massage the hair scalp. This is a good point to note because the scalp is very important. T

he best brush is one that takes note of the scalp because a healthy scalp automatically means healthy hair and the opposite is also true. The best brush which also takes account of the scalp is the one that has a rubber base. This is also called the half-round brush and it comes in handy for massaging the scalp therefore stimulating healthy hair growth. The right hair brush therefore takes into account that the scalp is important and also boosts blood circulation to the head.

Grief Recovery Counseling Explained

by Maurice Turmel PhD

During my practice years I saw numerous individuals who were dealing with the loss of a loved one, be that a spouse, life partner, child, friend, parent or close relative. The grieving person usually showed up in a state of shock not knowing what to do with all these feelings that were emerging from within. At one time I had two couples on the caseload where one of the partners had just been diagnosed with a terminal illness and only had a few months to live. Each of these situations were difficult and challenging in their own way.

With these latter couples, we would discuss what was happening and how each of them was dealing with their feelings. The diagnosed partner seemed to have the easier time, having accepted their illness and the eventual fatal consequences. I saw this type of reaction in my own family with a terminally ill brother-in-law and my sister. It was always the surviving partner who had the most difficulty with the situation because they would have to go on alone.

With counselling of any sort, the goal is to LISTEN! Not just the hear the words an individual was speaking, but to identify the Feelings behind them. When I would reflect back to the individual I always began with sounds like youre feeling ” sad, angry, scared, anxious, depressed ” whatever it was they were conveying. I would then ask them to check in to see if what I said was accurate. It usually was.

Then I would instruct them to pay attention to that particular feeling and tell me more about it. They would then describe their feelings in detail along with whatever physical reactions might be attached to it. Tears would begin to flow as they related the physical and emotional reactions they were experiencing. This was the essence of my counselling approach for persons in grief, no matter what the precipitating circumstances.

Sometimes grieving individuals would want to know about Stages and other matters they had heard about in relation to grief, and I would just steer them back to their feelings. Once they realized that this was more important, it became easier for them to go there themselves and accept that sharing, feeling and crying were in their best interest. After a few sessions of working with their feelings the process became more acceptable. Many of these individuals would later report that keeping in touch with their feelings had many advantages and helped them with other aspects of their life.

We are programmed toward externals by our various sources of news that like to talk about charts, graphs, theories and stages. These tantalizing tidbits are geared toward boosting ratings or adding another “Top Ten Ways to Heal Grief” book to the self-help section of bookstores. A helpful grief recovery resource will focus on Internals, such as feelings and emotions, because that’s always where the hurt lies. Our Heart and Feeling Center determines the quality of our life and tells us when we are hurting. By focusing inward we identify and release feelings, along with the associated pain. Writing in a journal, listening to good music, reading heart-centered poetry will put you in touch with Your Heart because that’s where healing actually happens.

A well written grief recovery book can become an excellent counselling companion as long as it is designed to put you in touch with your feelings. A fully narrated grief resource can take you even further. Since the feelings associated with grief and bereavement are so intense, youre practically there. Just a little push and the guidance counselling resource book and youre on your way. For most of us, all we need is Permission to Feel. Our heart and soul will take it from there because we have engaged our body and feeling natures innate healing capability.

Trying to apply externals to an internal problem is futile. It only serves to distract us from the real issue which our feelings will gladly tell us about. Thankfully, counselling and a well crafted book resource will re-acquaint you with your feeling state and guide you through the process of grief recovery, just as any good grief counsellor would.

You now have what you need to heal your grief. You will recover from this tragedy and great loss. You will become intimately acquainted with your Heart and Feeling Centre. You will come to a point where you can think about your loved one and smile. Because when the hurt is finally healed, what remains with you is the love you carry in your heart, and that is forever.

Bodybuilding Advice for Women - Use Bodybuilding to Lose Fat and Tone Up

by Louise J Brian

Losing fat is one of the toughest things to do. When you are losing weight, your body tries to protect itself from what it believes is starvation. This is why you need to work out regularly to keep the body in peak fat burning shape.

To burn obese, the foremost thing you need to do start doing is exercise. You need to do weight exercise three times a week, for forty to sixty minutes each time. In addition, you also need to do at least thirty minutes of cardio three times a week. You can interchange the days in which you do muscle training and cardio if you would like to do both on the same day.

It is believed that you are prone to burn more fat right after you wake up given that your body does not include anything in your stomach it can burn, and so it depends on your fat stores. Nevertheless, make sure you eat as soon as you close your workout, if at all possible have protein (like a bar or a shake) as soon as you finish, and follow up with a meal within the hour. Also, keep yourself hydrated by in taking lots of water.

If you are going to work out for only three days a week, you should work out different muscle groups on different days, and work your core (abdomen) two days a week. A good way to divide the muscle groups between the days is to work out unrelated muscles every day so your muscles get more engaged in the exercise. If you work out your legs, calves, and shoulders one day, work out your back, biceps, and abs the next time, and on the third day work out your chest, triceps, and abs.

You should aim to do three to four exercises per major muscle group and two or three for your biceps and triceps. You can also do one or two exercises for abs and calves. Build up your strength till you are doing between three and four sets of each exercise with fifteen to twenty repetitions per set.

To burn the most of your fat, you need to eat more frequently so your body never has to worry about starvation and your metabolism rate also does not slow down. Eat six small meals every day, every three or so hours. Obviously, not all these meals need to be very complicated. You should have a good breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Aim to have a small snack after every meal, three hours after you have had the main meal.

Small munchies can include Fruit, vegetables with dip, or even a sweet delight. However, make sure it’s not too high in calories and that it does not have a lot of sugar. You must plan to get around one to two hundred calories from your snacks. Other good snack ideas include meal alternative shakes, juices, cottage cheese, and small salads.

Just make sure you stay faithful to your training plan and don’t consume too many oily foods, and you will be able to acquire that great body in no time.

The Best Teeth Whitening Products For You

by Gavin Yoderelli

We live in a culture today that is obsessed with looks. One area of concern to many people is their smile. In this article we will be looking at some of the best teeth whitening products available to help you brighten your smile and improve your appearance.

Teeth whitening toothpaste is popular option for many people. The cost is reasonable and using this type of toothpaste doesn’t require a large commitment of time. On the down side, the results of teeth whitening toothpaste often take weeks to see and appreciate.

Teeth whitening toothpaste, being an over the counter product, generally has low concentrations of the substance that actually cleans your teeth, compared with prescription strength counterparts. This leads to a gentle and gradual cleaning of your teeth and removal of stains and, again, the results are not always that dramatic.

Teeth whitening strips are a good alternative to whitening toothpastes and offer better results, though they are also somewhat more expensive. Whitening strips are coated with a bleaching compound and are placed on your teeth for a period of around half an hour. For best results they should be worn a couple of times a day. Some brands of whitening strips contain a higher concentration of whitener, so less than thirty minutes of exposure to your teeth may be required.

The strips are very easy to use and come with everything you need. You can put the strips on during your leisure moments and that makes them convenient as well.

One drawback to whitening strips is that they cannot whiten an entire tooth. Typically the front of the teeth receive most of the whitening, while the spaces between your teeth don’t come into contact with the whitening chemical much at all. This can make the spaces even more noticeable and yield a somewhat uneven looking result.

A product preferred by some is teeth whitening gel. The gel need only be applied for a few minutes a day, an entire tooth can be whitened with this method, which yields more even looking results.

Generally, your dentist will be able to provide you with the most effective teeth whitening products. The trade off, though, is that they will cost you more in terms of both money and time, since you will have to be treated at his or her office. Laser whitening treatments, though costly, can result in dramatic improvement after just one treatment, and the results are usually long lasting.

One non laser teeth whitening option involves the use of a mouthpiece that has been molded to the shape and size of your mouth and filled with a peroxide bleaching compound. Tray bleaching, as it is called, whitens your teeth more effectively and in less time than home teeth whitening products do.

What if you just cannot afford either professional or home teeth whitening? There is always the various home whitening remedies that many claim to have found to be effective over the years. These include things like using a toothpaste made from bicarbonate of soda or cleaning your teeth with a combination of lemon juice and salt. Do they work? Who knows, but it won’t cost you too much to find out.

You can find the best teeth whitening products at the dentist’s office or on the shelves of your supermarket or pharmacy. Choosing the one that is best for you and your budget is the first step toward whiter teeth and a dazzling new smile.

Health Wise

by Jeff Cline

Many people would like to take steps to become more healthy. The road to good health is long, but only requires a commitment to stay between the lines. We will discuss a few paths on the road to good health in this article.

One of the first things you can do is to recognize your bad habits. I have always believed that if you write them down you hold yourself more accountable for them. So whether it is smoking, drinking soft drinks or being a couch potato, recognizing the problem is the first step.

Second, I tell them to engrave this little tid bit of information in their heads “it takes about 6 months to make or break a habit.” What this means is you must be consistent and patient. Making a new habit or breaking an old one does not happen over night!

One way we can become more healthy is monitoring what we eat. What we put into our bodies is important to our health. Becoming aware of good and bad food is key to learning to eat more healthy.

Another pavement on the road to health is becoming more active. Exercising at least 3 times a week is bets. But small changes also make a difference. Like parking further out, taking the stairs or a walk around the park with your family or pet.

One part of the health road that can make all the other parts bumpy, that many do not think about is stress and anxiety. We all face it from time to time. How we deal with it makes a huge difference in our lives.

One good way to deal with stress is to relax now and then. Everyone should take about 30 minutes out of there day to relax, no matter what kind of day you are having. Take a peaceful walk, bubble bath or try meditation.

Everyone should have a means of relieving the daily stressors. Perhaps, the use of a stress ball, sports or crafting. Learning to relax is essential to good health. Too much stress can harm our immune systems. If you are thinking of becoming pregnant you should always consult a doctor before starting a new health regimen. If you do not have health benefits.

Dry sensitive skin

by Artibella Hozik

Sent by: Lactic Acid Peel. It’s no secret that dry sensitive skin is also very difficult to take care of. Because of the deficient lubrication and the tight sensation of the skin, this dryness could easily cause the formation of wrinkles from the simple expression lines. Moreover, such a skin specificity makes one prone to allergic reactions, rashes, capillaries breaking and sudden flushes. Therefore, the dry sensitive skin care could prove quite a challenge at times. Moreover, dry sensitive skin is encountered regardless of gender, age or race.

The choice of cleansing, moisturizing and make up products ought to include some preventive measures when you have to care for dry sensitive skin. First of all, you need to minimize the amount of products you put on the face; the more the chemicals one comes into contact with, the higher the chances to develop rashes. All the products have to be fragrance free and hypo-allergenic so that you don’t develop red irritation blotches.

The blusher and the foundation could raise some problems for dry sensitive skin.

Avoid using too much make-up for a normal and unhindered skin breathing. When shopping for make up, other than the hypo-allergenic feature, you should also pay attention that they be oil free. Water-based foundation and blusher make excellent choices because the risk of pore clogging is lower. Oil absorbing foundations are not recommended to dry sensitive skin, because they will make your epidermis even drier.

It is not recommended to use exfoliants or astringent products on dry sensitive skin because they could irritate the thin epidermis. The same thing must be said in relation to cleaning: over-washing the face means eliminating the natural oils that lubricate the tissues, which will result in an accelerated dryness.

Furthermore, make sure that the daytime moisturizer has an incorporated SPF (sun-protection factor) of at least 15. Then, although you may like sunbathing, dry sensitive skin doesn’t allow you much to enjoy such outdoor pleasures.

Premature aging and skin problems are the main consequences of sunbathing. And finally, a warning must be signaled in relation to the changes of one cosmetic product for another. When you have made up your mind to switch to a different skincare brand, it is important to test the product on a small skin portion to check whether it triggers any allergic reaction or other negative manifestations.

Chronic Pain can be such a Pain

by Virginia Pipolini

In our modern world many people are plagued with chronic pain. For some it is a mere annoyance, that aching feeling. Many tune it out, only to realize when they release the pain of how much pain they had hidden away.

There are many theories about the source of chronic pain, and each has its merit. The question though is how do we treat the aches and pains that we experience on an ongoing basis?

There are many programs available these days for the treatment of chronic pain conditions. Traditional therapies include physical therapy, occupational therapy and medications. Holistic program include acupuncture, yoga, nutritional changes, and breathing exercises.

In a study conducted at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, a team of health care professionals treated chronic low back pain using naturopathic practices. The treatment included deep breathing exercises, acupuncture, and dietary supplementation such as omega 3 fatty acids, calcium, and magnesium.(1)

Half the group was treated with conventional physiotherapy methods and half with naturopathic methods. What they found in this treatment of chronic low back pain is that those treated with naturopathic methods had a greater reduction in pain than those treated by the conventional physical therapy modalities.

When we look in the direction of providing our body with the tools it needs to heal itself, we must look at nutrition. Magnesium, for example, has been identified as a deficiency in half our population. What are the signs of a magnesium deficiency? There are many signs, such as muscle cramping, asthma, and fatigue.(2)

We can take simple steps to improving our health and decreasing chronic pain. Improving our nutritional storehouse is one easy way to provide the body with the tools it needs to heal. Magnesium and other trace elements can be introduced into our system through transdermal absorption, such as a magnesium bath or magnesium oil rubbed into those aching muscles.

Burn the Fat and Feed the Muscle Review

by Martin Knight

I am tired of all the hype and bull around miracle diets!

Do you ever feel like the ping pong ball in a corporate game of ping pong?

On one side you have the purveyors of every kind of junk food, fast food and junky fast food ever created…

who only want to sell you some more of their latest and greatest gut expanding “food.”

On the other side we the never ending “miracle” diets which, do NOTHING to help you lose weight and EVERYTHING to make you feel so discouraged you just want to give up and go pig out on more junk food!

I, for one, am sick and tired of all this bull! Aren’t you?

That is why I have sworn to NEVER EVER go on another miracle diet…

…because diets do not work!

What is the point of losing 20 pounds, and then gaining 30?

I’m convinced that the ONE and ONLY thing that does work is to IGNORE everyone who is trying to make a profit by telling you what to eat and what supplements to take…

…locate someone who already LOOKS the way YOU want to look

…and copy what THEY do to look that way!

Does that make sense?

It really does to me.

I work at Fitness-Programs-Review where we test fitness programs to find the fitness programs that ACTUALLY WORK.

So I went on a personal mission to find SOMEONE who can tell me for a FACT what works and what doesn’t when it comes to losing fat, gaining muscle and feeling and looking GREAT.

There are plenty of people out there who CLAIM they can do this……and almost none who can back up what they say.

Most fitness programs do not work. They just recycle basic workout poses and repeat what they’ve heard others say…”Burn more calories then you take in….eat lots of veggies…avoid fat and carbs….blah blah blah.”

If this advice was practical and doable, we’d ALL be slender, shapely and fabulous.

I did find a couple of programs that sounded promising, but I had to wonder why the authors weren’t showing off their own bodies.

I would think the proof is in the pudding! It’s hard to follow the advice of someone who doesn’t take their own advice.

So I discarded those.

Of course, I also used objective criteria to evaluate if these programs worked. This included: lots of happy customers, a no questions asked money back guarantee, an inexpensive price, a low return rate, credentials of the author, and no outlandish claims.

When we were done, only 4 programs were found to work, out of 48 programs tested!

Out of the 4 programs, all of which are excellent, one stood out as my favorite.

If you went to this site right now and look at the author’s photo….

I think you would not disagree with me…

3.7% body fat!

Now here’s someone who appears to be following his own advice. He used to look quite different, which means his advice is worth following if you want to make a change.

We also found that his program does not make outlandish claims, is filled with highly usable information, has 1,000s of happy customers, is inexpensive, does not require a gym membership, and even though it is guaranteed, only 3% of his customers have asked for their money back. In short, the program works.

But how did he learn the secrets to looking like THAT??

He has been perfecting a system that works for not just him, but for thousands of people he has taught it to.

Where did he get his knowledge?

From fitness models and competitive bodybuilders (who did not use supplements of any kind).

The people who MUST look good for a living.

Notice he says, “Fitness” models, not skinny anemic anorexic drug-ingesting models.

People who get paid to look fantastic and HEALTHY, not like they’re refugees from third world countries (as most fashion models look.)

I bet someone will take offense at that last comment…

If want to know how to do something well, I believe you should find someone who is already doing it, and do what they do.

Simple.

Tom Venuto is practically OBSESSED with nutrition and fitness.

He’s spent almost his entire life studying everything he could get his hands on, trying every diet ever created.

That’s how he found out that diets and weight loss supplements are a total waste of time and money, and can even be detrimental to your health and cause you to GAIN weight, not lose it.

Based on his research of what DOES work using the SECRET techniques of the world’s best bodybuilders and fitness models, Tom has developed his own fat burning system.

…and it comes with a full 56 day money back guarantee.

So, if it turns out that Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle doesn’t work for you, just ask for you money back.

Can’t beat a deal like that!

P.S. You’ll notice a long list of bullet points on his home page at Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle.

Here are 5 of which impressed me!

…these alone are worth the price of the entire course!

–How to INSTANTLY boost your energy levels higher than you thought possible, starting from day one…

–How to eat 50% more food calories while storing NONE of it as fat…

–The top twelve worst foods you should avoid like the plague…

–The top twelve wonder foods you should eat all the time…

–How to be practically “hypnotized” into eating properly and working out consistently… No willpower required!

You can go read the bullet points to find your favorites…

… or begin your journey to lean, muscular and sexy right now…

Know your Ballet Barre Exercises

Dancers dressed in tutus or warm-up leggings and leotards stretching at a ballet barre may seem like something of a modern day interpretation of a Degas painting, but the importance of barre work in ballet can’t be emphasized enough. All ballet dancers, whether they want to go on to be prima ballerinas, or are the youngest novice still learning how to tie the ribbons on her ballet slippers, will learn that the barre will be the greatest tool to help a ballet dancer develop the strength, poise and balance that she (or he) will need to create the graceful movements synonymous with ballet dancing.
