The Transformers is returning in all its splendour and radiance with its sequel, which is going to be released in the UK on June 19th, 2009. The movie is one of the kinds and is a mega budget film. Clark Gable’s mother died when he was only 7 years old. This is just one of many occurrences in his life which shaped him into the person he was to become. At the age of 16, Clark would drop out of school in order to accept a job working at a tire factory in Akron, Ohio. Later he would have several other occupations such as working with stocks as well as working in an oil field and he even was a tie salesman at on time.

The film It Happened One Night ended up advancing his career even further when he took home an Oscar for his role in it.

MGM did not want to lose their star so they asked Clark to return where he acted in the films Gone with the Wind and Mutiny on the Bounty. Shortly after this though, his wife and mother-in-law would die in a plane accident and Clark Gable left Hollywood. He would even eventually sign up to the Army Corps to due his duty in World War II.

Upon returning, he attempted a comeback appearance in the film Adventure but this did not turn out so well. MGM felt he was being paid too much and cancelled his contract.

He would make other films, however most of these would go unnoticed until the 1961 movie Misfits. Before the film’s release and the birth of his first son, Clark Gable would die of a heart attack.

On January 18th of 1904, Cary Grant was brought into this world in Horfield, Bristol with a birth name of Archibald Alexander Leach. His childhood was to be considered average for that of a middle class family in the UK, but at the age of 9, tragedy stuck his family as his mother become mentally ill and had to be institutionalized. At the age of 14, he would leave school in order to join up with a troupe of comedians led by Bob Pender.

With Bob Pender, Cary was able to develop a number of entertainment talents like pantomime as ell as acrobatics which would become useful later on. All over England the troupe toured and while he was enjoying it, he felt he was destined for something more. His luck quickly changed and along with 6 others from the group (7 boys in total), he was sent off to Broadway to be part of the musical entitled Good Times.

Tired of the Broadway scene and wanting something more, he left the troupe and made his way out to California. After changing his name to Cary Grant, he got himself a screen test with the Paramount studios and was chosen for a part in the movie This is the Night. The movie was released a year later in 1932.

Mae West fell in love with Cary grant and his on-screen charm made him the perfect choice for her movies. Within a year, Cary Grant was in the movie ‘I’m No Angel’ as well as ‘She Done Him Wrong’. However it would not be until 1935 that he was to appear in the movie ‘Sylvia Scarlett’ and finally get his big break along side his co-star, Katherine Hepburn.

Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant made the perfect on-screen duo. On November 29th of 1986, Cary Grant died of a stroke and left behind a legacy that still lives on today.

The Dark Knight has been nominated and received many awards recently, including The Golden Globes and The Grammys. It has even received nominations from the producers, Writers and Cinematographers Guild this month. So why has been ignored by the Academy?

To top all this off, Chris Nolan even got passed over in the Best Director category. Even if Heath Ledger receives an Best Supporting Actor award, There is no way The Dark Knight will be taking home a Best Picture or a Best Director trophy come February 22nd. In the fur lore of all this hype, many people are questioning whether The Dark Knight deserves all the attention it has been receiving since long before it?s premiere last summer.

The Dark Knight cashes in on the notion of capitalist dominance and the legitimate militarization of our society against these so-called insane terrorists. It comments on the society that we live in today and the problem with terrorism. It is any wonder that this movie has been such the box office draw that it has been?
