Any work that doesn’t have a renewed copyright, or has passed its expiration date is considered part of the public domain.
It is possible some people may find public domain works in libraries or bookstores. The Internet however has many public domain works available, which business owners can edit, modify and resell. It simply takes some searching to find them. You may possibly even find a business which provides other business owners with works from the public domain. Take note however these businesses will charge or access to them.
It doesn’t matter where you find your public domain works. What does matter is the fact you should verify the status of any book to be completely sure they are works of public domain.
What can you do with public domain eBooks?
The answer to this question is quite plainly, there is a lot you can do with public domain e-books. The uses for them are limited only to the imagination of the person who uses them.
If you decide to give one away as a bonus for particular purchases, do it.
If you want to offer it as an incentive to get people signed up on your mailing list, this too is a possibility.
If you decide you want to modify and repackage it before selling, you can.
You can even modify it, sell it, or break it into smaller parts to use with articles, blog posts and email content.
